Handmaiden Music: Handmaiden Music

I Will Be Humble

(Elizabeth Stephens)
Will I be humble, not proud?

Will I walk in faith, and not fear?

Will I be falsely submitted

OR will I be
freely surrendered?

Will I surrender To Where? When? and How?

Will I stray?
Or will I stand firm?

Am I refusing to do?

Refusing to give up?

Delaying my response to
what the Lord has told me
to do?

These are the choices I make today and every day

Will I be rebellious?

Will I be stubborn?

Will I be rebellious? It’s as the sin of witchcraft!

Or Will I be stubborn?
No, this is IdoIatry!

Is “self’ on the throne?

Or does His Will matter most?

These cholces I make
each and every day.

(Now for YOUR declaration!)

I will be humble
not proud!

I will walk in faith
and not fear!

I won’t be falsely submitted
But will be
freely surrendered!

I will surrender
To Where, When and How!

I will not stray
No, I will stand firm!

I’m willing to do!

I’m willing to give up!

I’ll quickly respond to the things the Lord has told me
to do.

These are the choices to make EACH day and EVERY day

I won’t be rebelIious... Nor will I be stubborn!

I wont be rebellious
It’s as the sin of witchcraft

Nor will I be stubborn
It’s as Idolatry

Christ is on the throne!

His will matters most!

These choices I’ll make

each and every day.

(Ending Prayer)

Dear Lord I ask your help to do your Will,

for with the Holy Spirit’s help

I will be yours

all yours

Music Teacher Lesson #5
Will I Be Humble?

This song came from the corrective hand of the Lord upon my own life... and the questions, He posed to me as a woman. I realize they are the same challenges He puts before all his true followers...so let the song be the main lesson...

I have added few thoughts of my own as well, as part of our lesson. It is indeed a "process" to walk in humility. I have found it comes almost solely from "relationship". I personally desire to get past the conscious asking of these questions to my inner self, and come into a "total transformation of heart" so it all becomes natural, as breathing, to be led and to follow. It IS possible, to be AS ONE with Christ. It is a "choice" to enter into this transformation.

As in a marriage, when in good relationship, when in trust of each other, surrender and obedience is so much easier, than when fears, or rebellions, or anger, or doubt comes in between the parties. Tis the same between Christ and his bride the church. The best news is, we have the Spirit within to help us "keep close" to Christ. Our conscience will tell us of willfullness, disobedience, rebellion, confusion, etc.

In addition to our coming to salvation through Christ and the walk of faith, we as believers are CALLED to "humility".

Humility isn't a false sense of inadequacy...rather it is an agreement with God about what He says about us. It's actually a taking away of focus upon ourselves...even our obedience... and focusing on Father's will. Christ was humble, in that he submitted to His Father, not man. He closed his mouth when he knew it wasn't profitable, for He knew men's hearts. He was obedient unto death.

True humility is leaving behind pride in one's self, or boasting in our righteousness. True humility recognizes our righteousness is only in Christ. It is giving Him the Lordship over our decisions, rather than being presumptuous, or procrastinating in regard to taking our steps of faith. It is being led not driven.

The Holy Spirit will instruct you concerning humility if you ask for him to take away pride, arrogance, and self-righteousness. This is indeed His desire...for when we become weak...he is strong. When we choose "humility", He is able to work in and through us.

Did you know?
...we influence others far more in our humility than in our pride.

Matthew 23:12
"Whosoever shall exalt himself shall be abased; and he that shall humble himself shall be exalted." (this chapter goes on to describe much of what the prideful church of today is like, but for now we won't "go there".)

James 4:6,7
"God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble. Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you."

Many of us read the above passage as just verse 7, BUT, there is a "therefore" within it which means the previous verse is connected to its meaning...We must humble ourselves by submission (true surrender) of the heart, in order for the Devil to flee.

I want to speak humbly this next comment, for it is my opinion:

I believe many of us are "stuck in the wilderness" due to our failure to "freely surrender".
We have yet to learn that we must do God's Will His Way, or it is not true submission.

Once I wanted to help my husband clean his closet out. My husband said, "You may think you are loving me by doing this, but it doesn't mean that "to me". You have to do it "my way" for me to receive from you."

I believe God spoke to my heart then...that I must do His Will, His way, in order for Him to consider it done in humility. He spoke that many of us are trapped and caught-up in "our own agendas", which are not His.

He spoke clearly to me:

"Ask not,
Is my agenda yours?
but ask,
Is your agenda mine, Lord?"

Humility will set us free, for it is a change of "focus" that God is after...away from ourselves, and unto HIM.

As we ask the questions, and begin to see things from His Perspective, and DESIRE His Agenda, we will find true humility will bring us into the fullness of His Purposes for us.

James 4:10
Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and He shall lift you up."

I Peter 5:6
Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of
God, that he may exalt you IN DUE TIME.

Let's receive these verses in faith...
In the doing so, by faith, we will receive edification from the Lord himself, and breakthrough in all areas of our lives. This I truly believe with all my heart.

If you have already been walking humbly before God, I want to encourage you to not grow weary, for God shall keep his Word. You WILL be exalted and lifted up in due time. Keep your faith and stand upon the promises. God is faithful and cannot lie.
