MUSIC TEACHER LESSON #9

If we can but gaze into the light of Jesus, we will see who we really are, and who we are meant to be, and begin to see our lives differently.

God gave me this delightful "picture" as I was praying about this lesson:

How many of you remember those little picture viewers you had as a kid? They came with little round cards whose outside edges contained several tiny black squares of film...and the card itself sure didn't look like much. But when that circular card was placed into the viewer and held UP TO THE LIGHT it brought to you a world of wonder... a new perspective...as you were carried into another world, and became aware that a story unfolded!
WOW, had you not placed your card into the viewer and held it up to the light, you'd have no idea!! That card would have seemed of little value to you...might as well just toss it away.

WELL, IF YOU REALIZE that this is what happens to you IN Christ, you will allow yourself to be held up to the light OFTEN! When you gaze upon Christ, you actually see yourself. When you receive the light, you actually receive perspective. When you look at the pics of your life, you will see that a story/plan IS unfolding....
It will add DIMENSION to you...for sure! You are as the card. And Jesus is as both the viewer AND as the light. "For FROM him, THROUGH HIM and TO HIM are all things". Unless we are placed IN HIM (as the card is placed into the viewer)...We cannot be held up to the light and shown the REAL PICTURE.

For most of you this song is not new information...the idea of gazing upon Jesus... but in reality, how many of us are actually placing our focus OFF OURSELVES....and AWAY FROM WORLDLY MINDSETS... and UNTO CHRIST...in our day to day activities?

Be concerned. For We begin to reflect that which we gaze upon....

....and sometimes we, in modern society, AREN'T AWARE of what we ARE gazing upon.

Let me give an example:
The Holy Spirit has been opening my eyes to show me what "we-society" are GAZING UPON as we simply watch TV after work in the evenings. There are shows like HOUSE and BECKER where there is a trend to create the "mindset" that it is OK to be unkind, unthoughtful, unaware of other's needs, and downright rude to others. It has brought an "acceptability" to UGLINESS of SPIRIT. Then the channel turns to find FRIENDS, SEINFELD, FRAZIER, and other sitcoms, which bring an "acceptability" to behaviors of lying and deceit, fornications, not being faithful to employers, talking behind backs, etc. Turn the channel again and you have cop and murder solving dramas that bring murder, rape, crime, and lusts into our living room as if we are watching weather. Sensitivity to others pain is lost. Mercy is abandoned as a normal heart's response to tradgedy around us. In all these shows, the more focus on SELF the better...THAT IS THE MESSAGE. The AGENDA of Satan used to be masked by comedy or hidden within plots, but now evil is being pumped as gasoline into your minds blatently, and at a much HIGHER PRICE than gasoline. TV is just one aspect of what we reflect on, as far as our gaze being OFF CHRIST. There are careers, personal goals, family, sports, money, entertainments, and many idolatries which take us away from simplicity in Christ. He is being abandoned even by his own, and it is breaking his heart.

This is why scriptures refer to those who are serving him in the end as OVERCOMERS. We will need to overcome all that is coming at us, and it can only be done as we LOOK UPON CHRIST. The only way TO OVERCOME is to become AWARE of not only what is coming AT US, but to become AWARE of WHO is IN US.

It is by reading the words in red, by studying Christ's response to people--the religious, the sinner, the average joe--that we will see how he is to look living out his live IN US. We will reflect him as we look at him and allow him to use us to accomplish his purposes.

Well, this is plenty to ponder. Do so, please.
As I will be also. FOCUS ON CHRIST...that is the lesson in a capsule.

In all these devotions, know that God is dealing with me individually, as well... and I'm simply sharing as I'm being taught. Let's pray for and encourage one another in this hour. For it is those who KNOW their GOD who will remain strong and do exploits.
