Handmaiden Music: Handmaiden Music
Strong
(Elizabeth Stephens)
This song is stressing the word STRONG.. and the "how to" become strong in the Lord.
Though it is great for children (especially if you do the actions with it), ITS MESSAGE IS FOR ADULTS. God wants to strengthen us, if we will but LET him.
Verse 1
STRONG meditation on the Word,
leads to STRONG affection for Jesus,
This leads to a STRONG obedience,
and makes our relationship
STRONG.
And a STRONG belief in Jesus,
Brings STRONG delighting in His love,
Faith brings us a STRONG deliverance,
of any STRONGhold of Satan...
Chorus:
STRONG, STRONG, Our Lord is STRONG,
No weakness is in HIM or in His PLANS...
STRONG, STRONG, In Him I'm STRONG,
No weakness is in HIM or in his PLANS.
Verse 2:
When we have a STRONG reliance
On Jesus's STRONG redemption.
We know with a STRONG assurance,
that in Him, We are STRONG.
And we can be STRONG and courageous,
for He is a STRONG foundation.
He brings about STRONG unity,
and leads us to a STRONG victory.
(Repeat Chorus)
Ending:
In HIM, I am strong...
ONLY in Him, I am strong.
(spoken)
"When we do not replace our weakness with His strength, we are paralyzed to do what God tells us to do."

IT'S TIME FOR A DIVINE EXCHANGE: OUR WEAKNESS FOR HIS STRENGTH
This song may seem like a children’s song when first heard…
Yet the Holy Spirit assures me He has given this song FOR ADULTS,
To those of us who consider ourselves strong in the Lord and in our faith…
SAINTS,
IT’S TIME
FOR A DIVINE EXCHANGE!
Our weakness for HIS STRENGTH!
ARE YOU READY TO RELY ON HIM AND NOT YOURSELF?
TO DO THIS WE MUST BECOME ALERT
TO HIS STRENGTH…
AND THE FACT THAT IT IS AVAILABLE TO US…
AND HOW TO APPROPRIATE IT.
ARE WE AWARE THAT
ONLY IN HIM….ARE WE…STRONG?
OR ARE WE STILL STRUGGLING AS WE TRY TO LIVE IN OUR OWN STRENGTH?
OH YES, ITS TIME FOR THIS DIVINE EXCHANGE!
Let’s look at this song’s three major lessons:
1.
IN HIM
WE
ARE STRONG
Psalm 18:30-32
As for God, his way is perfect: the word of the Lord is tried: he is a buckler to all those that trust in him. [31] For who is God save the Lord? or who is a rock save our God? [32] It is God that girdeth me with strength, and maketh my way perfect.
Psalm 27:1
The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?
Psalm 28:7-8
The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in him, and I am helped: therefore my heart greatly rejoiceth; and with my song will I praise him. [8] The Lord is their strength, and he is the saving strength of his anointed.
Psalm 29:11
The Lord will give strength unto his people; the Lord will bless his people with peace.
Psalm 31:4
Pull me out of the net that they have laid secretly for me: for thou art my strength.
Psalm 43:2-5
For thou art the God of my strength: why dost thou cast me off? why go I mourning because of the oppression of the enemy? [3] O send out thy light and thy truth: let them lead me; let them bring me unto thy holy hill, and to thy tabernacles. [4] Then will I go unto the altar of God, unto God my exceeding joy: yea, upon the harp will I praise thee, O God my God. [5] Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted within me? hope in God: for I shall yet praise him, who is the health of my countenance, and my God.
Psalm 46:1
God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.
Psalm 59:17
Unto thee, O my strength, will I sing: for God is my defense, and the God of my mercy.
Psalm 62:7
In God is my salvation and my glory: the rock of my strength, and my refuge, is in God.
Psalm 22:19
But be not thou far from me, O Lord: O my strength, haste thee to help me.
Psalm 18:1-3
To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David, the servant of the Lord, who spake unto the Lord the words of this song in the day that the Lord delivered him from the hand of all his enemies, and from the hand of Saul: And he said,
I will love thee, O Lord, my strength. [2] The Lord is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower. [3] I will call upon the Lord, who is worthy to be praised: so shall I be saved from mine enemies.
Isaiah 12:2
Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and not be afraid: for the Lord Jehovah is my strength and my song; he also is become my salvation.

Job 12:13-16
With him is wisdom and strength, he hath counsel and understanding. [14] Behold, he breaketh down, and it cannot be built again: he shutteth up a man, and there can be no opening. [15] Behold, he withholdeth the waters, and they dry up: also he sendeth them out, and they overturn the earth. [16] With him is strength and wisdom: the deceived and the deceiver are his.
Psalm 62:8
Trust in him at all times; ye people, pour out your heart before him: God is a refuge for us. Selah.

OR IN HIS PLANS

The earth shook, the heavens also dropped at the presence of God: even Sinai itself was moved at the presence of God, the God of Israel.
Psalm 68:34
Ascribe ye strength unto God: his excellency is over Israel, and his strength is in the clouds. 35 O God, thou art terrible out of thy holy places: the God of Israel is he that giveth strength and power unto his people. Blessed be God.
Psalm 71:16
I will go in the strength of the Lord God: I will make mention of thy righteousness, even of thine only.
Psalm 96:6-9
Honour and majesty are before him: strength and beauty are in his sanctuary. [7] Give unto the Lord, O ye kindreds of the people, give unto the Lord glory and strength. [8] Give unto the Lord the glory due unto his name: bring an offering, and come into his courts. [9] O worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness: fear before him, all the earth.
Psalm 84:5-8
Blessed is the man whose strength is in thee; in whose heart are the ways of them. [6] Who passing through the valley of Baca make it a well; the rain also filleth the pools. [7] They go from strength to strength, every one of them in Zion appeareth before God. [8] O Lord God of hosts, hear my prayer: give ear, O God of Jacob. Selah.
Psalm 89:17
For thou art the glory of their strength: and in thy favour our horn shall be exalted.
Psalm 93:1-3
The Lord reigneth, he is clothed with majesty; the Lord is clothed with strength, wherewith he hath girded himself: the world also is stablished, that it cannot be moved. [2] Thy throne is established of old: thou art from everlasting.
Psalm 95:4-11
In his hand are the deep places of the earth: the strength of the hills is his also. [5] The sea is his, and he made it: and his hands formed the dry land. [6] O come, let us worship and bow down: let us kneel before the Lord our maker. [7] For he is our God; and we are the people of his pasture, and the sheep of his hand. To day if ye will hear his voice, [8] Harden not your heart, as in the provocation, and as in the day of temptation in the wilderness: [9] When your fathers tempted me, proved me, and saw my work. [10] Forty years long was I grieved with this generation, and said, It is a people that do err in their heart, and they have not known my ways: [11] Unto whom I sware in my wrath that they should not enter into my rest.
Isaiah 40:10
Behold, the Lord God will come with strong hand, and his arm shall rule for him: behold, his reward is with him, and his work before him.
Nahum 1:7-15 (Are these the plans of a WEAK God? Can He not take care of our enemy?)
The Lord is good, a strong hold in the day of trouble; and he knoweth them that trust in him. [8] But with an overrunning flood he will make an utter end of the place thereof, and darkness shall pursue his enemies. [9] What do ye imagine against the Lord? he will make an utter end: affliction shall not rise up the second time. [10] For while they be folden together as thorns, and while they are drunken as drunkards, they shall be devoured as stubble fully dry. [11] There is one come out of thee, that imagineth evil against the Lord, a wicked counsellor. [12] Thus saith the Lord: Though they be quiet, and likewise many, yet thus shall they be cut down, when he shall pass through. Though I have afflicted thee, I will afflict thee no more. [13] For now will I break his yoke from off thee, and will burst thy bonds in sunder. [14] And the Lord hath given a commandment concerning thee, that no more of thy name be sown: out of the house of thy gods will I cut off the graven image and the molten image: I will make thy grave; for thou art vile. [15] Behold upon the mountains the feet of him that bringeth good tidings, that publisheth peace! O Judah, keep thy solemn feasts, perform thy vows: for the wicked shall no more pass through thee; he is utterly cut off.
Rev. 5:12,13
Saying with a loud voice, Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honour, and glory, and blessing. 13 And every creature which is in heaven, and on the earth, and under the earth, and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, heard I saying, Blessing, and honour, and glory, and power, be unto him that sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb for ever and ever.
3.
WHEN WE DO NOT REPLACE
OUR WEAKNESS
WITH HIS STRENGTH
WE ARE PARALYZED
TO DO WHAT GOD TELLS US TO DO.
Let’s take a look at some scriptures that support the revelation given through this song:
Joel 3:10b
Let the weak say, I am strong.
2 Cor. 12:9 (A divine exchange: our weakness for his strength!)
And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.
2 Chron. 15:7 (Often when we “faint” in our work, it’s because we lose perspective that that work which is done in Christ WILL be rewarded!)
Be ye strong therefore, and let not your hands be weak: for your work shall be rewarded.
2 Tim. 2:1 (Be strong in GRACE…i.e. knowing what is yours is from the Lord Jesus)
Thou therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.
1 John 2:14-17 (Strength is having the Word abiding within and overcoming the Enemy in your life through its use….)
I have written unto you, fathers, because ye have known him that is from the beginning. I have written unto you, young men, because ye are strong, and the word of God abideth in you, and ye have overcome the wicked one.
Hebrews 11:34 (aha! A treasure is found within this Faith passage. Faith will take you from weakness to strength!)
Quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, OUT OF WEAKNESS WERE MADE STRONG, waxed valiant in fight, turned to flight the armies of the aliens.
Romans 5:6 (The ungodly are without strength…Christ died, and now we have His strength within us)
For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly.
Psalm 136:12-14 (A Psalm which reveals our God is strong …for his mercy endures forever.)
With a strong hand, and with a stretched out arm: for his mercy endureth for ever. [13] To him which divided the Red sea into parts: for his mercy endureth for ever: [14] And made Israel to pass through the midst of it: for his mercy endureth for ever:
2 Chron. 16:9 (Our part: to keep our hearts turned toward Him. His part: to show himself strong in our behalf)
For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to shew himself strong in the behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward him.
Isaiah 40:27-30 (Don’t give up when you grow weary: Waiting on the Lord will bring increased strength from Him, not of ourselves. He never grows weary!)
Why sayest thou, O Jacob, and speakest, O Israel, My way is hid from the Lord, and my judgment is passed over from my God? [28] Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God, the Lord, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? there is no searching of his understanding. [29] He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength. [30] Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall: 31 But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.
Joshua 14:11-12 (Note: God’s strength given us is not according to our age, but that His word might be fulfilled in and through us.)
As yet I am as strong this day as I was in the day that Moses sent me: as my strength was then, even so is my strength now, for war, both to go out, and to come in. [12] Now therefore give me this mountain, whereof THE LORD SPAKE IN THAT DAY, thou heardest in that day how the Anakims were there, and that the cities were great and fenced: if so be the Lord will be with me, then I shall be able to drive them out, AS THE LORD SAID.
Habakkuk 3:19
The Lord God is my strength, and he will make my feet like hinds' feet, and he will make me to walk upon mine high places.
2 Samuel 22:18-21
He delivered me from my strong enemy, and from them that hated me: for they were too strong for me. [19] They prevented me in the day of my calamity: but the Lord was my stay. [20] He brought me forth also into a large place: he delivered me, because he delighted in me. [21] The Lord rewarded me according to my righteousness: according to the cleanness of my hands hath he recompensed me.
When I looked up the words strong and weak, it was apparent that
IT’S OUR FLESH THAT IS WEAK; NOT OUR SPIRIT MAN
Matthew 26:41
Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.
Mark 14:38
Watch ye and pray, lest ye enter into temptation. The spirit truly is ready, but the flesh is weak.
Romans 8:3 (Note: God condemned SIN, not you the sinner. IN CHRIST God now gives YOU strength OVER sin. Let him have the weakness of your flesh. He will make you strong.)
For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, CONDEMNED SIN in the flesh:
2 Cor. 12:10 (You can seem weak in the flesh, but are strong in the Spirit; a sign of strength is being able to find pleasure in your weakness…Are you there?)
Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ's sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong.
IF STRONG, CONSIDER THESE VERSES:
If you are one of the strong…regard the weak, and in humility and love help them to become strong as well.
Romans 15:1
We then that are strong ought to bear the infirmities of the weak, and not to please ourselves.
1 Cor. 9:22
To the weak became I as weak, that I might gain the weak: I am made all things to all men, that I might by all means save some.
2 Cor. 13:3-4
Since ye seek a proof of Christ speaking in me, which to you-ward is not weak, but is mighty in you. [4] For though he was crucified through weakness, yet he liveth by the power of God. For we also are weak in him, but we shall live with him by the power of God toward you. 2 Cor. 13:9 For we are glad, when we are weak, and ye are strong: and this also we wish, even your perfection.
FINAL VERSES (memorize these three if you can…)
Psalm 46:1
God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.
Ephes. 6:10
Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.
Proverbs 18:10
The name of the Lord is a strong tower: the righteous runs into it, and is safe.
